1 Peter 2:24
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness, by his wounds you have been healed.

What of Today’s Verse…

He bore our sins. He didn’t just carry them; he suffered the penalty we deserved. His anguish was our healing, his suffering our righteousness. How can we ever think of going back to sin after he suffered so much to bear their penalty?

Let us Pray:

Holy God, how you could stand to see your precious Son under the weight of my sin, all sin, I will never understand. Thank you for such a great love and for being so great a God. There is none who can be compared to you, O God. Your greatness is beyond imagining and your love beyond my dreams. I will live this day to your glory through him who bore my sin so I could be your child. Amen.

Words of Wisdom

Trust in God
I trust the all-knowing, all-powerful spirit of God within me.

Freedom and independence might seem to be the same, but true freedom requires “inner-dependence”—trusting in the all-knowing, all-powerful spirit of God within.

In the story of Moses, the chosen people’s release from bondage does not entitle them to enter the Promised Land. First they are to have inner-dependence, a trust in God, and interdependence with one another. Only then can they enter into the next stage of spiritual awareness.

Like the people in the story, I can learn to live interdependently with others, but first I establish an inner-dependence so that I grow spiritually. I am free and unlimited in my oneness with God, and with that freedom of spirit, I experience a oneness with others that enriches all that we do together and share with one another.

“Let the people go, so that they may worship the Lord their God.” —Exodus 10:7
