2 Peter 1:5-8

Make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

What of Today’s Verse…

Wow! What a message. God wants us to be productive in our lives. He wants us to have more than just head knowledge. He wants us to put it to work in our lives and be effective and productive with it. But, I’ve got to put out some effort and try to grow in these qualities. Peter is saying, “Okay folks, God wants you to get after it and make a difference through your life!” I’m ready! Let’s begin today.

Let us Pray:

Holy God, I am going to put out the effort to grow in your grace. Please bless my efforts and receive them as my heartfelt appreciation for loving me when I was unlovable and redeeming me when I was lost. I want to be productive to your glory in my life with Jesus, through whom, I pray. Amen.

Confidence…

Every action you take brings you more confidence in taking additional actions. Confidence comes from doing.

If you lack confidence, then do something about it — literally. Do something. Take action. No matter how little confidence you may have, still there is something you can bring yourself to do, some action you can take. Go ahead and do it. Take that first step. Keep doing it until you develop the confidence to take the next step.

Confidence is something you build with your actions. No one can give it to you or sell it to you. Your confidence must come from you.

In what way is your lack of confidence holding you back? What can you do right now to begin building the confidence you need? What small action are you confident enough to take, that will put you on the road to even more confidence?

Start where you are. There is something you can do. Make the effort. Build your confidence, and it will serve you well.
