Romans 13:9-10
For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worked no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

What of Today’s Verse…

Wouldn’t it be great if we didn’t have to have laws to keep people in line! That’s the point behind Paul’s message here. Treat our neighbours like we would like to be treated. Love them as we like to be loved. If we do that, then we’re not going to do anything that would hurt them, much less violate a command of law!

Let us Pray:

God who gave Moses the Law on tablets of stone, please write your character and will on my heart that I might be a living stone, testifying to your righteousness and grace. Help me to think more carefully about how my neighbours feel before I act or react to them — not just today, but every day! In the name of your Son, Jesus I pray. Amen.

Words of Wisdom
Circulate

One with God, I make wise choices.

Honouring the circle of life on planet Earth, I make wise use of resources and protect the environment as part of my spiritual practice.

Like a loving mother, the Earth supports and sustains me. I return that love by reusing and recycling the materials I use. Through the small act of giving something I no longer need to someone who does, I circulate and share my abundance with others.

I hold the planet in prayer, affirming good for all creation and all humanity. I strengthen my affirmation with conscious acts of generosity and responsibility and contribute to the care of planet Earth.

He caused the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth. –Psalm 104:14
