Your Today’s Verses—Should you become Angry…

Remember this, my dear friends!  Everyone must be quick to listen, but slow to speak and slow to become angry.  Human anger does not achieve God’s righteous purpose.  If you become angry, do not let your anger lead you into sin, and do not stay angry all day.  A gentle answer quiets anger, but a harsh one stirs it up.

“If you forgive others the wrongs they have done to you, your Father in heaven will also forgive you.

If your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them a drink.  You will make them burn with shame, and the LORD will reward you.  Never take revenge, my friends, but instead let God’s anger do it.  For the scripture says, “I will take revenge, I will pay back, says the Lord.”  And if you stay calm, you are wise, but if you have a hot temper, you only show how stupid you are.

Long life is the reward of the righteous; gray hair is a glorious crown.  Keep your temper under control; it is foolish to harbour a grudge.  Don’t give in to worry or anger; it only leads to trouble.  Get rid of all bitterness, passion, and anger.  No more shouting or insults, no more hateful feelings of any sort.  Instead, be kind and tender-hearted to one another, and forgive one another, as God has forgiven you through Christ.

But now I tell you: if you are angry with your brother you will be brought to trial, if you call your brother ‘You good-for-nothing!’ you will be brought before the Council, and if you call your brother a worthless fool you will be in danger of going to the fire of hell.  So if you are about to offer your gift to God at the altar and there you remember that your brother has something against you,  leave your gift there in front of the altar, go at once and make peace with your brother, and then come back and offer your gift to God.

Sensible people are careful to stay out of trouble, but stupid people are careless and act too quickly.  People with a hot temper do foolish things; wiser people remain calm.
