Hebrews 13:5

“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you.”

What of Today’s Verse…

What line does my thought take? Does it turn to what God says or to what I fear? Am I learning to say not what God says, but to say something after I have heard what He says? “He hath said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”

“I will in no wise fail you” – not for all my sin and selfishness and stubbornness and waywardness. Have I really let God say to me that He will never fail me? If I have listened to this say-so of God’s, then let me listen again.

“Neither will I in any wise forsake you.” Sometimes it is not difficulty that makes me think God will forsake me, but drudgery. There is no Hill Difficulty to climb, no vision given, nothing wonderful or beautiful, just the commonplace day in and day out – can I hear God’s say-so in these things?

We have the idea that God is going to do some exceptional thing, that He is preparing and fitting us for some extraordinary thing by and by, but as we go on in grace we find that God is glorifying Himself here and now, in the present minute. If we have God’s say-so behind us, the most amazing strength comes, and we learn to sing in the ordinary days and ways.

Words of Wisdom

Confront it…

Everything we avoid, or deny, or try to run away from, can serve to defeat us in the end. And anything, no matter how much we despise it or how unpleasant it is, can be turned into a source of growth and power, when openly confronted.

Problems will not just go away if they are ignored. Failing to confront something negative, serves only to give more power and influence to it. And when you finally are forced to deal with it, it has grown to be  nasty. Yet when you confront your problems, you grow as a person, and gain true power over your life.

We know we should confront life, yet fear holds us back. And we take it to another level when we try to deny our problems — we actually fear the fear, so we try not to even admit it exists.

The only way around this is to feel the fear and do it anyway. Deal with the things that must be dealt with. Confront life head on. Nothing is gained by living in fear. Decide to play an active role in your life.

Is it uncomfortable? Yes. Is it difficult? Yes. What will everyone else think? Who cares! Your life, your goals, your dreams are worth the pain and the effort. Stop hiding behind your fears. Once you start to take action, once you make the commitment to do whatever it takes, the strength and the resources you need will come to you. Begin today to confront the obstacles in your life, and let your own unique light shine brightly.
