Today’s Verses – Spiritual Lukewarm Feelings…

Wake up, and strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have not found your works complete in the sight of my God.   I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot.  I could wish that you were either cold or hot!  So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.  I have this against you that you have abandoned the love you had at first.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life.  Make them known to your children and your children’s children.

Take care lest you forget the LORD your God by not keeping his commandments and his rules and his statutes, which I command you today, lest, when you have eaten and are full and have built good houses and live in them, and when your herds and flocks multiply and your silver and gold is multiplied and all that you have is multiplied, then your heart be lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

If we had forgotten the name of our God or spread out our hands to a foreign god, would not God discover this?  For he knows the secrets of the heart.  Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God.  But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.

About this we have much to say and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing.  For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God.  You need milk, not solid food, from the days of your fathers you have turned aside from my statutes and have not kept them.  Return to me, and I will return to you, says the LORD of hosts.  But you say, ‘How shall we return?’

For if, after they have escaped the defilement’s of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.  For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them.

Today’s Scriptural Inspirations
John 5:33-47

Ye have sent unto John, and he hath borne witness unto the truth.  But the witness whom I receive is not from man:  howbeit I say these things, that ye may be saved.  He was the lamp that burns and shins; and ye were willing to rejoice for a season in his light.

But the witness whom I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father hath given me to accomplish, the very works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.  And the Father that sent me, he hath borne witness of me.  Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form.  And you have not his word abiding in you:  for whom he sent him ye believe not.

Ye search the scriptures, because ye think that in them ye have eternal life; and these are they which bear witness of me; and ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.  I receive not glory from men.  But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in yourselves.  I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not:  if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.  How can ye believe, who receive glory one of another, and the glory that cometh from the only God ye seek not?

Think not that I will accuse you to the Father:  there is one that accused you, even Moses, on whom ye have set your hope.  For if ye believed Moses, ye would believe me; for he wrote of me, but if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
