The Bible Says Faith Is…

What better way could I build faith than to do as Jesus said and have faith in God?  My prayers are the building block to a greater faith, so I pray, because every child of God is able to defeat the world.  And we win the victory over the world by means of our faith.

“God, I do have faith in You.”  When I am feeling down, I know that You are the strength which builds me up and the wisdom which opens a world of possibilities to me.  To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the things we cannot see.  New hope rises to greet me each day because Your plan of divine order is unfolding.

Jesus answers, Have faith in God.  My faith is growing; I feel sure that You are with me.”  New life is emerging in every cell of my body so that I am constantly being renewed.  As my faith in Your spirit moving through me increases, so does the positive impact I have on my life and on the lives of my loved ones.  I assure you that whoever tells this hill to get up and throw itself in the sea and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.  “Yes, God, I have faith in You!”

It’s for this reason I tell you: When you pray and ask for something, believe that you have received it, and you will be given whatever you ask for.  No one can please God without faith, for whoever comes to God must have faith that God exists and rewards those who seek him.  “Yes,” said Jesus, “if you yourself can! Everything is possible for the person who has faith.”

Their purpose is to prove that your faith is genuine.  Even gold, which can be destroyed, is tested by fire; and so your faith, which is much more precious than gold, must also be tested, so that it may endure.  Then you will receive praise and glory and honour on the Day when Jesus Christ is revealed.  You love him, although you have not seen him, and you believe in him, although you do not now see him.  So you rejoice with a great and glorious joy which words cannot express, because you are receiving the salvation of your souls, which is the purpose of your faith in him.

So then, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message comes through preaching Christ.  A woman who had suffered from severe bleeding for twelve years came up behind Jesus and touched the edge of his cloak.  She said to herself, “If only I touch his cloak, I will get well.”  Jesus turned around and saw her, and said, “Courage, my daughter! Your faith has made you well.”  At that very moment the woman became well.  When Jesus had gone indoors, the two blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I can heal you?”  “Yes, sir!” they answered.  Then Jesus touched their eyes and said, “Let it happen, then, just as you believe!”

Are any among you sick?  They should send for the church elders, who will pray for them and rub olive oil on them in the name of the Lord.  This prayer made in faith will heal the sick; the Lord will restore them to health, and the sins they have committed will be forgiven.
