“Love Never Fails”
You will notice that the words repeat throughout this psalm–“love never fails.” There may be times in your life when it seems that things don’t go exactly as you’d like. You may even feel that God has failed you.
Often, when we have some time and distance from those situations, we see that God knew what we did not and that his love didn’t fail us after all. God’s word is true and we can be certain that he does not fail.
Psalms 136:1-26
O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: God’s love never fails.
O give thanks unto the God of gods: God’s love never fails.
O give thanks to the Lord of lords: God’s love never fails.
To him who alone doeth great wonders: God’s love never fails.
To him that by wisdom made the heavens: God’s love never fails.
To him that stretched out the earth above the waters: God’s love never fails.
To him that made great lights: God’s love never fails.
The sun to rule by day: God’s love never fails.
The moon and stars to rule by night: God’s love never fails.
To him that smote Egypt in their firstborn: God’s love never fails.
And brought out Israel from among them: God’s love never fails.
With a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm: God’s love never fails.
To him which divided the Red sea into parts: God’s love never fails.
And made Israel to pass through the midst of it: God’s love never fails.
But overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the Red sea: God’s love never fails.
To him which led his people through the wilderness: God’s love never fails.
To him which smote great kings: God’s love never fails.
And slew famous kings: God’s love never fails.
Sihon king of the Amorites: God’s love never fails.
And Og the king of Bashan: God’s love never fails.
And gave their land for a heritage: God’s love never fails.
Even a heritage unto Israel his servant: God’s love never fails.
Who remembered us in our low estate: God’s love never fails.
And hath redeemed us from our enemies: God’s love never fails.
Who gives food to all flesh: God’s love never fails.
O give thanks unto the God of heaven: God’s love never fails.
