The Pharisees Were Faultfinders
Matthew 12: 1-42
(Mark 2: 23-28; Luke 6: 1-5)

Many Pharisees were hard to please. All they could think about were their precious customs. They were proud because they thought their ancestors had done great things for God. Often the Pharisees seemed to spend their time finding fault with others. They may have even resented Jesus when he said that the true meaning of the Sabbath is to give rest and help to others.

We must be cautious of the kind of “religion” that mainly finds fault and is proud of how well rules are kept. Keeping God’s commandments is food, but are we also taking care of those in need?
