Luke 1:68-70

Zechariah said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, and hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; as he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:

What Of Today’s Verseā€¦

What God does in Jesus is not a surprise. Yes, it was unexpected, but the “hints” and prophecies of his coming are found all over the Old Testament. The holy prophets had spoken about it “long ago.” But more than the prophets, Jesus coming is God keeping his word. Jesus’ coming is God’s answer to his promises. That’s why Paul can say that all God’s promises find their “yes” in Jesus and it is through Jesus that the “amen” is spoken (2 Cor. 1). In Jesus, God comes, God ministers, God cares, God saves, God redeems, and God keeps his promises.

Let us Pray:

I thank you, Holy Father, that you keep your promises. I know you don’t have to keep your word to me, but because of your love and kindness, I know you will. So please help me be more faithful to you as I seek to honour my commitments and pledges to you. I know this is important to you not only because I need to learn obedience, but I also need to develop a character more consistent with your own. Thank you for hearing my heart. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Words of Wisdom

Isaiah 58:11

And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

The Lord promises us that even in the midst of the tumultuous, He will ever guide and protect us. Praise the Lord that though He fills the entire universe and is greater in stature than the entire created cosmos, He still is the constant comfort and companion to His people! Though insignificant of ourselves, in God’s sovereign plan and act of loving sacrifice, we are made as important as His Son’s death. Rejoice and sing His praises!
