The Oppressive Boss
Jeremiah 22: 13-19

Jehoiakim was placed on the throne of Judah by the Egyptians to replace his brother. He imposed a brutal taxation program in order to appease the Egyptians. However, he spent the extra funds on a lavish palace building program. Jeremiah shouts a resounding condemnation of the oppression, especially the fact that the workers had to “volunteer” for the project.

Jesus spoke to this many years later in Luke 10:7 where he said, “Workers are worth what they earn.” Unrealistic demands on labourers are against the moral law of God.
