Jesus felt that some religious leaders had lost touch with the purpose of God’s laws. Some taught that it was okay to neglect your parents if you gave big gifts to the temple. Others had become obsessed with food preparation and washing dishes.
God cares for people more than buildings, and he’s more concerned about what comes out of our hearts than what goes into our mouths. Our worship of God should always promote the realities of love and purity.
