Setting Aside Glory
Matthew 17: 1-13
(Mark 9: 2-13; Luke 9: 28-36)

Jesus looked like any other man, except for this one time. On the mountain, he showed his divine majesty for a moment to Peter, James, and John. He wasn’t trying to impress them; Jesus wanted them to understand that he meant it when he said he was going to die for people’s sins.

Everything Jesus did on earth was part of putting aside his divine glory in order to show us the way to God. Once we believe that Jesus died for us, we have to begin to live as he did. Christians are supposed to put others ahead of themselves. We, too, set aside our “glory” to help others in need.
