Philippians 1:9-10
This is my prayer:  that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ.

What of Today’s Verse…

I don’t know you, but my most difficult decisions are not about choosing between good and bad.  I usually know what is good and what is bad, especially when bad involves evil.  My toughest choices are when I have to choose between good, better, and best.  My love for God usually overcomes my weakness and I choose good over bad.  But unless I’ve placed myself before God’s word and surrendered my heart to him in prayer, I have a very tough time choosing between good and best.  Yet I’m convinced that much of what God would love to do through us today does not happen because we’ve settled for good when he longs to lead us to best!

Let us Pray:

Gracious and Almighty God teach me your ways and give me your heart as I strive to love you, know your will, and have insight into your ways.  Help me to know the best things to do today and to use my time in the best way in my work, my family, among my friends, and especially before those who do not know Christ as their Saviour.  Through him I pray.  Amen.

Words of Wisdom

Free of regret…

When tomorrow is here, what will you regret not doing today? Five years from today, what will you regret not doing right now?

Regret has no cure, but it can easily be prevented. And the time to do that is now. The most stinging form of regret is the regret for opportunities not seized, for actions not taken.

Prevent regret in the future by making the most of today. Sure there will be disappointments. Yet when you sincerely and honestly give your very best effort to life you won’t have to find yourself wondering "why didn’t I?"

Live fully in the present with an eye toward the future. Don’t waste your time worrying about tomorrow. But, live now in such a way that will make tomorrow the best it can possibly be.

Accept the relatively minor inconvenience and discomfort of taking disciplined action today, and tomorrow will be wonderfully free of regret.
