Christians Must Pass Judgment

Many times the Bible tells us not to judge.  In these places, God is speaking of passing judgment on the hearts of other people.  Only God knows a person’s heart.  But in this case, we find the other side of this teaching.  God doesn’t want his people to tolerate immoral behaviour.  He tells us we should judge people who refuse to change their ways.
We may not like to be judgmental of others, but God says that we have to show people that sin is wrong.  This doesn’t mean that we should think we are better than others.  We should reach out to others in love.  If we truly love the sinner, as we are told to do, we will show that person that hates sin, but he will forgive them if they trust God.

1Co 5:9-13

I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world.

But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one.  For what have I to do with judging outsiders?  Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge?  God judges those outside.  “Purge the evil person from among you.”
