Jesus Heals A Crippled Man
Matthew 9: 1-8
(Mark 2: 1-22; Luke 5: 17-26)

God often teaches us as we experience times of pain and suffering. We may wonder why Jesus healed the man in these verses by saying that his sins were forgiven. After all, what did that poor man’s need have to do with sin? Probably nothing directly. But Jesus wanted people to understand his ministry, which was to heal souls.

The amazing healings of bodies were signs of Jesus’ purposes—to save us from the ugly effects of sin. The source of our problems is often not our physical aches and pains. Our real problems is our sinful nature. Only Jesus can heal us of this disease.
