A Gift of Promise
Isaiah 9: 6,7
Our society often resembles the blind followers of King Ahaz (see 8:21, 22) who were wandering around a desolate land, searching without hope. Into this wilderness comes a divine promise. A promise of peace. A ruler like none has ever seen. A leader full of wisdom, power, endurance and hope.
There is a link between the child mentioned here in verse 6 and the prophecy in Isaiah 7: 14. The ultimate fulfilment of this prophecy is found in Jesus Christ, the Messiah. The Prince of Peace, Mighty God, and Wonderful Advisor. He is still the divine promise for our world today.
